Jfk Assassination

Leonardo DiCaprio is keeping very busy these days.

Warner Bros. and DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way have optioned a John F. Kennedy assassination movie based on a non-fiction book called, “Legacy of Secrecy,” written by Lamar Waldron and Thom Hartmann.

A press release indicated DiCaprio will star in the film with a release date of 2013 in time for the 50th anniversary of JFK’s assassination.

DiCaprio will play the FBI informant Jack Van Laningham, who obtained the confession of Mafia godfather Carlos Marcello to having ordered JFK’s assassination. In this real life story undercover operation, it remained a secret for decades until the publication of the non-fiction book in 2009.

According to Deadline, another press release by DiCaprio’s public relations firm stated that “an acclaimed director who has previously worked with Leonardo has expressed interest in directing the film.”

Gig Patta’s Take: This is exciting. Another acclaimed director will direct this movie with Leonardo DiCaprio. Who could it be—Martin Scorsese, Clint Eastwood, Sam Mendes or even Christopher Nolan? I think it is probably going to be Scorsese. And it’s probably safe to rule out Kristine Peterson (Critters 3) from directing this film. Let the guessing game begin.
